2026CONTEXT / DECISIONS / DETAILS
01 / THE CONTEXT

A lighter site. A stronger foundation.

GKR Hospitality is a public-facing website with a gallery, service information, reviews, and a contact journey. Its quality depends as much on delivery and discoverability as on appearance.

The problem to work through

Oversized imagery made delivery unnecessarily heavy. An inherited canonical pointed multiple pages at the homepage, and the contact and security foundations needed attention.

02 / MY CONTRIBUTION
01

Make imagery practical to deliver

I re-encoded 70 images, removed unused assets, and stopped serving gallery originals in the documented maintenance work.

02

Give each page its own identity

I corrected the sitewide canonical collapse, added sitemap and robots support, and improved page metadata and structured data.

03

Maintain the working site

I added server-side form validation, spam checking, and a Content Security Policy, and worked on fonts, navigation, and error states.

03 / THE OUTCOME

214 MB to 25 MB

Combined weight of the 70 re-encoded image assets in the maintenance report. This is an asset-total comparison, not the bytes transferred on one page or a measured load-time improvement.

What I take from it

A polished website is an ongoing system: the images need to arrive, the right pages need to be discoverable, and the contact flow needs to work.
